2007-06-18
There was a big interest raised by the the conference "How to speak to Consumer 2.0", which was held in Bratislava, Slovakia, on May 30. Gemius was one of the conference's partners together with Mediaresearch and the local market & media magazine Stratégie.
The conference was attended by Slovakian media houses, representatives of the biggest advertisers, interactive agencies, and industry portals. Visitors to the conference, which was divided into four sections, could listen to many interesting presentations and speeches on various subjects, such as: the usage of the Internet as a new communication space, various possibilities to attract customers through the tools of the new phenomenon – Web 2.0 and the emergence of a new type of consumer in the reality of the Slovakian market – called Consumer 2.0.
When it comes to the presentations, it is worth mentioning that the speakers came from different branches and countries. Jon Lund, the president of FDIM, the association uniting Internet media in Denmark, talked about the situation of the Internet in his country. He focused on the recently launched gemiusAudience measurement of online and Internet spendings levels. Jaroslaw Sobolewski, the CEO of the IAB Poland, covered the topic of advantages and disadvantages of online real estate advertising, as well as changes in customer habits. From Slovakian speakers, Tereza Simeckova, the managing director of the Mediaresearch agency gave a presentation on the topic "The consumer of yesterday, today and tomorrow", devoted to the development of the Internet, which was based on various research sources. Ján Šifra, a specialist responsible for the interactive services of Neopublic Porter Novelli, described the Web 2.0 tools and techniques, explained how they can be used in marketing communication and presented examples of the project run in Slovakia and abroad. Miloš Čermák, a well known Czech publicist, talked about the new Internet visions, innovative technologies and new creative forms. The Gemius representative, Tomas Gregor, country manager of the company’s local branch Gemius Slovakia s.r.o., compared the situation in the e-business of Central and Eastern Europe to other European regions.
To sum up, the conference is considered to be a valuable source of curiosities and up-to-date information on e-marketing and trends in contacting the customer via the Internet. Exchanging ideas and sharing knowledge within the group of speakers and participants to the event was a step forward in the popularization of the Web not only as a source of enternaintment but also as an efficient chanel of comunication and effective targeting of online customers. It already leads to the flourishing of all kinds of Internet activities among users on the one hand, and a significant increase in the number of Internet players' sales on the other hand.
