Dear User of the gemiusTraffic research!
We are pleased to remind you about the recently introduced gemiusTraffic functionality allowing for forecasting the number of users and page views for a single script. These predictions are especially valuable when planning advertising and sales activities and the new algorithm facilitates taking key decisions within this field. Paying attention to constant development of our products, we are pleased to inform you about the latest changes concerning the algorithm and presentation of forecasts. In order to increase the accuracy of predictions, we have introduced protection against forecasts for scripts, for which the data are distorted. The changes concern both the presentation of the forecasted results and the algorithm.
Up to now, the forecasts have been presented only for scripts (nodes), for which the number of users in the last and the last but one month amounted to at least 5000. The assumption about the minimal number of users is very important, as it guarantees statistical correctness of the calculations. The two month condition has been maintained for the daily forecast, whereas the weekly and monthly forecasts require one month more. That is to say, in each of three previous months the number of users has to be at least 5000, e.g. forecast for June is presented only if in April, May and June the number of users amounted to 5000.
In addition to the above, we have improved the algorithm. It predicts the values with due correctness if the growth of the reach curve, in the period covered by the forecast, is similar to the curves from the previous periods. That is to say, the data, on which the calculations are based, has to be comparable. Considering the situation, in which the differences in values are too significant to predict the new data accurately, we have introduced a new change. In the case when the forecastmade on the basis of the advanced algorithm is 4 times bigger than the average number of users and page views in four historical periods, the counting module does not give any value. Thanks to the introduced changes, the risk of forecasts for unstable nodes is minimised and the predictions are more accurate.
Last but not least, the modification of the way the side menu works is also worth mentioning. The active areas of the elements have been expanded, which makes selection easier. Moreover, despite the visual changes of “Menu”, “Report” and the “Sign out” option, the size of the site has been decreased by 32 kB, which facilitates downloading data by a browser. There has been also some change in the order of tabs – the “Scripts” tab has been moved to the last but one position. To sum up, these changes improve navigation and they will make your work in the gemiusTraffic interface easier.
We hope that our innovations will be useful in your work and sales or advertising activities. We encourage you to use the gemiusTraffic results and we will always be pleased to answer all your questions by phone (22) 874-41-00 or e-mail: pro@gemius.com
