Dear user of the gemiusTraffic research study!
We have the pleasure to inform you that the range of data that we currently present in the interface of gemiusTraffic has been widened by the forecasted number of visitors and page views on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. The information on the expected number of users and page views allows for planning advertising and sales activities in a better way.
The new statistics are available in the following tabs Users > Summary and Page Views > Summary in the form of an additional bar in the bar chart.
The forecasted data result from the process of estimation made on the basis of analysis of results from four historical periods: daily (for the statistics Days of week and Days of month), weekly (for the statistic Weeks), and monthly (for the statistic Months).
Methodology of forecasting the data
While forecasting the data there are analyzed curves of reach construction (in the case of users - cookies) and curves of growth in the total number of page views for previous periods. The algorithm efficiently forecasts respective values, providing that within the period encompassed by the forecast, the curve of reach construction (the curve of growth in the total number of page views) is similar to the curves from the previous periods. The curve may be immediately disturbed in the case when an advertising campaign has been started as this temporarily changes the usual rhythm of visits for the web site. If nothing influences the usual traffic on site, then the algorithm correctly forecasts the right values, taking into account the observed earlier trends.
The forecasts of the number of users and page views for days, weeks and months are determined for single scripts (nodes) in gemiusTraffic.
The forecast is calculated in the process of analyzing curves of reach construction (growth in the total number of page views) from the four previous respective periods: days, weeks, or months. The forecasts are calculated without delay, taking into account the current number of users (page views). They are presented for scripts (nodes) which meet the condition that the number of Internet users within the last month must be at least 5 000 and in the last but one month - also at least 5 000. Additionally, our forecasts are not available for new scripts (nodes), that is a given script has to have existed for at least 2 months (precisely: in each of the four historical periods, on the basis of which the forecast is determined, there must be respective data). In the case of meeting these criteria, there is presented a complete set of data, that is daily, weekly and monthly forecasts for the number of users and page views.
The information about new statistics are available in the gemiusTraffic interface upon clicking the question mark symbol in the upper right hand corner within the given statistic.
